More than just a great pub
The Great Western, Aynho is more than just a great pub – it somewhere quite special. Chef Rene Klein and his partner Ali Saul are making the Great Western one of Oxfordshire’s best known pubs – a place where people can relax with friends, family or work colleagues and enjoy great food and experience a relaxing time.
It is perfect place for a light lunch, a celebratory evening meal or a tranquil Sunday afternoon. The Great Western is a rural gem, not far from Deddington and close to Banbury - it is positioned alongside the Oxford canal - and offers a warm welcome and an imaginative menu.
The Great Western has a bustling bar, comfortable spaces for people to dine and a pretty, sheltered garden-courtyard, where food is served too. Chef Rene says he takes huge pride in serving the best ingredients he can find.
Most of the ale comes from the local Hook Norton brewery, including the house bitter - Ali’s Ale - and as homage to Rene’s homeland the wine list includes a sparkling New Zealand Lindauer Rose - just perfect for a special occasion. Veuve Cliquot and Perrier-Jouet Bell Epoque, are also available.
With plenty of parking space, the Great Western also has superb letting rooms - ideal for business travellers and tourists.
