Hooky Bitter was the drink of choice!
Hooky Bitter was the drink of choice as Al Murray, the Pub Landlord, takes two steps back and launches his latest book Wine is traditionally served at book launches – but customers in Borders store in Oxford supped, locally brewed Hooky Bitter – and they loved it.
Everyone who bought a copy of the Pub Landlord’s latest book Think Yourself British was offered a pint of Hooky Bitter – though there was “white wine for the ladies”. The comedian was in Oxford to launch his new book and to do a show at the New Theatre. Al wanted to try the beer but said: “I’m going on stage soon, so I’ll have to postpone mine to later.”
Talking about his new book Al said: “The first principle of helping yourself is this: in order to take one step forward, we must first take two steps backwards. Because you will only truly know that you are moving forwards if you have first seen what it's like to go backwards.”
He says the book is designed to equip people to take those crucial backwards steps. “In fact, once you have read Think Yourself British you will undoubtedly become one of the most backwards people you know,” said Al.
The Hooky Bitter was supplied by one of Oxford’s best known licensees Andy Hall, who has been running the renowned Rose and Crown in North Parade
